What is a leading cinematographer?
The leading cinematographer works with the director to bring the director's visual idea to life. Usually referred to as the 1st cameraman/-woman, leading cinematographer or camera operator, this primary artistic cinematographer is sometimes referred to as the DoP, which stands for Director of Photography.
What does a leading cinematographer do?
A leading cinematographer's job is to plan the shots and light the environments in which they shoot. As the artistic director and supervisor, he or she will give instructions to the camera crew on what to do with lighting and camera movements before each shoot.
